Mandalay Palace is the last palace of the Konbaung dynasty. The last king is Thibaw and the king and family arrested by Colonial in 1885. Thibaw King’s reigned for seven years.

Now I would like to present how and who built the Mandalay Palace.The King Mindon who is the father of Thibaw king built the Mandalay Palace between 1857 and 1859. The King Mindon wants to build a new palace and he orders the builder and his people to build similar to that of the previous palaces, surrounded by walls and moats.
The Palace is located in the heart of the courtyard, facing east. Each courtyard is built with one storey. After the 3rd English – Myanmar war, the British army arrested King Thibaw and his royal family. The British Government changed the Mandalay palace into a Duffin Fortress.
Most of the courtyards were destroyed during the second world war by the bombing of Allied. Most of the buildings were in frie and some buildings and towers remained. This new building was built after 1990. Nowadays, Mandalay palace is one of the highlight places of Mandalay city for the guest and tourist.
You can see the old walls of the ancient Burmese capital and the ruins of the city can still be seen.There have many courtyard, we explain the highlight among, The glass palace which is called as Hman Nan Saung is local and it is the rest hostel for the King. The walls are made Burmese bricks which are 3 meters wide at the base and 1.47 meters wide at the top and its height is 6.86 meters without a dove and 8.23 meters with a dove.
The king Thibaw is one of the intelligent kings, that we can know who is by seeing the structure of moat. The enemy can not easily enter the place and can pass or cross the water to reach the wall.
Each side of the wall has a main door and entrance to enter the palace. There are meanings like the below East Door, West Door, North Door and South Door.At that time, the people can enter related doors according to their level.
